On July 2, 2025,with the active coordination of Beijing Xingjiao Human Resources Service Co., Ltd., an affiliated unit of CPEC, students from the "Qinyun Warm Star Care for Special Children Practice Team" (hereinafter referred to as the "Practice Team") of Beijing University of Science and Technology went to the Special Education School of Beijing Union University (hereinafter referred to as the "Special Education School") to carry out effective guidance and exchange activities with teachers and students of the Special Education School. This activity not only deepened the practical team's understanding of the daily communication methods for special children, but also laid a solid foundation for the upcoming summer practical activities.
On the campus of the Special Education School, the students of the practice group first visited the Braille signs in the hallway and attempted to interpret some basic Braille content. Subsequently, the practice group had in-depth exchanges with the sign language club of the Special Education School. The sign language club demonstrated the basic expression methods of sign language to the members of the practice group and taught them how to use sign language to express common words in daily life.
Through exposure to the rich hearing-impaired culture behind sign language, covering unique community customs and expressions, members of the practice team have gained a deeper understanding of the universality of "differences" in society, learned to respect multiculturalism, accept individual differences, and further promoted personal growth and deepening self-awareness.
With the strong support of Xingjiao Human Resources, this guidance and exchange activity not only enhanced understanding and support for special needs children, but also contributed to building a more inclusive and harmonious society.
The Special Education School at Beijing Union University was established in September 2000 and is the first comprehensive special education college in China that integrates disabled and able-bodied individuals. The college undertakes multiple tasks such as special education teacher training, higher education for people with disabilities, and guidance for teaching and research in special schools in Beijing. The college is the first master's program in China to enroll students with disabilities, which not only improves the higher education system for disabled people, but also fills the gap in the education of disabled master's students.
